We are called by God’s holy calling to serve San Jose and the nations. By living as little Christs here on earth, we will establish God’s Kingdom and proclaim the love of Christ to our neighbors and to the ends of the earth.
교단 소개 | About Nazarene
우리 교단은 미국 Nazarene 교단에 속해 있습니다. 미국 Nazarene 교단은 성결교단으로, 1886년 세계에서 가장 먼저 시작되었으며, 현재 미국의 3대 교단 중 하나 입니다. 미국 Nazarene 교단은 150만 교인과 1만 3,000개 교회가 120개 나라에 퍼져 있습니다. 한국에도 500여 교회가 있습니다. 교단이 운영하는 대학 및 신학교로는 세계에 46개가 있습니다. 특히 캔사스에 위치한 ‘Nazarene Theological Seminary’는 미국의 4대 명문 보수 신학교 중 하나로 인정 받고 있고, 이 곳 캘리포니아에는 샌디에고에 ‘Point Loma Nazarene University’이 있습니다.
Our church belongs to the Church of the Nazarene in the United States. The Church of the Nazarene, founded in 1886, is recognized as the first holiness denomination in the world and is currently one of the three major denominations in the U.S.
The Church of the Nazarene has approximately 1.5 million members and 13,000 churches in 120 countries. There are also over 500 Nazarene churches in Korea.
Globally, the denomination operates 46 colleges and seminaries. In particular, Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City is recognized as one of the four leading conservative seminaries in the United States. Here in California, Point Loma Nazarene University is located in San Diego.
알마덴 한국 학교 | Almaden Korean School
알마덴 한국 학교는 2007년에 설립된 알마덴 한국 학교는 지역 한인 사회를 섬기기 위한 산호세 밸리 교회의 후원으로 출발하여 오늘의 놀라운 발전을 맞이하게 되었습니다. 아이들에 게 한국인의 정체성을 갖게 하기 위해 한글과 역사 교육, 한국 문화 체험을 실시하고 있습니다.
감사한 것은, 영성과 지성을 갖춘 훌륭한 선생님들이 사랑으로 아이들을 잘 교육하고 있습니다. 아이들이 한국학교에 오는 것을 즐거워한다는 말을 듣는 것이 교사들에게는 큰 보람입니다. 한국학교의 역사와 함께 아름다운 전통이 세워지고 있는 것도 또 하나의 기쁨입니다. 어린 시절 부모의 손을 잡고 한국 학교에 입학했던 아이들이 고등학생이 되어서는 보조 교사로 봉사하면서 후배들을 잘 섬기고 있는 모습이 너무 자랑스럽습니다.
정상 수업과 함께 두 주일에 한 번씩 사물놀이, 연극, 한자 배우기, 합창 등 다양한 특별활동 이 있습니다. 알마덴 한국학교의 장점은 학생들에 대한 개인적인 관심과 친밀감이 높아 학습 능률을 높일 수 있다는 것 입니다. 현재, 단계별로 8반이 있으면 한 반에 교사 한 분과 보조 교사가 한 명에서 세 명까지 그리고 10 여명 정도의 학생으로 편성되어 있어 능률적인 소그룹 교육이 가능합니다. 산호세 밸리교회 부설 알마덴 한국학교는 기도로 새학기를 시작하고 마무리하며, 매주 교사 회의 시간마다 아이들을 위해 기도하는 학교입니다.
Almaden Korean School was founded in 2007 with the support of San Jose Valley Church to serve the local Korean community. It aims to instill a strong Korean identity in children through education in the Korean language, history, and cultural experiences.
We are grateful to have dedicated teachers who are spiritually mature and intellectually equipped, lovingly educating the students. It brings great joy to hear children say they look forward to attending Korean school. Along with the history of the school, a beautiful tradition is being established. We are especially proud to see students who once held their parents’ hands on their first day now returning as high school student volunteers to serve and mentor younger students.
In addition to regular classes, students participate in special activities every other week, such as Samulnori (Korean traditional percussion music), theater, Chinese character learning, and choir.
One of the strengths of Almaden Korean School is its close, individualized attention to each student, which significantly enhances learning efficiency. Currently, there are eight classes organized by level, with about ten students per class, one teacher, and one to three assistant teachers per class, making effective small-group education possible.
As a ministry of San Jose Valley Church, Almaden Korean School begins and ends each semester with prayer, and during weekly staff meetings, teachers pray for each student by name.
