A few months ago, the sprinkler that waters the wisteria area had been broken. Because of that, water would overflow every morning. At first, I did not realize what was happening, and I thought it was simply because the sprinkler pressure was too strong.
Later, I discovered the problem and wanted to fix it. But because my schedule had been so busy, I was finally able to repair it this week.
Those who have repaired sprinklers before may know that fixing a sprinkler system is more difficult than it seems. This is because you have to consider the water pressure. If there are too many places where the water comes out, the pressure becomes weaker. Then the water cannot be supplied properly.
So this time, I tried to pay careful attention to that issue. But as expected, the places I repaired toward the end did not receive as much water as I had hoped. Seeing that, I found myself thinking, “It would be so nice if the water pressure were just a little stronger.”
Then, all of a sudden, I was reminded of the infinite and abundant grace of God, who always supplies His grace to each of us steadily and faithfully.
In truth, God’s love is never supplied insufficiently to anyone. His love is always more than enough, full and abundant. And because of that, we are able to live each day receiving His grace—even if we feel like we are at the very end of the line.
But there is something we, who have received such grace, are called to do. Just as trees that receive water are meant to grow well, we are also called to grow well. That is one way we respond to the God who has poured out His grace upon us.
My hope and prayer is that you will continue to grow well through the grace of the Lord. And I bless you to bear many good fruits in your life.
몇 달 전부터 등나무 쪽으로 가는 스프링클러가 부러져 있었습니다. 그러다보니 아침마다 물이 흘러 넘쳤었습니다. 그리고 그런 상황인 줄을 잘 몰랐던 저는 그런 현상이 일어나는 이유가 스프링클러의 힘이 쎄서, 그런 줄 알았습니다. 그러다 문제를 발견했고, 수리를 하려고 했었습니다. 하지만, 그동안 바쁜 일정들이 계속 있다보니 드디어 이번 주에 수리를 했습니다.
그런데 스프링클러를 수리해 보신 분들은 아시겠지만 스프링클러를 수리하는 것이 생각보다 어렵습니다. 왜냐하면 물의 수압을 고려해서 수리해야 하기 때문입니다. 나오는 곳들이 많으면 물의 수압들이 떨어집니다. 그러면 물이 제대로 공급되지 않습니다. 그래서 이번에도 그 부분을 신경써서 했는데, 역시나 마지막에 수리한 곳들에서는 생각보다 물이 잘 나오질 않았습니다. 그러다보니 물의 수압이 조금만 더 쎄면 얼마나 좋을까 라는 푸념을 하게 되었습니다.
그러다 문득 우리 모두에게 항상 일정하게 은혜를 공급해 주시는 하나님의 무한하심과 풍성하심이 생각났습니다. 실제로 우리 하나님의 사랑은, 어떤 사람들에게도 부족하게 공급되지 않습니다. 항상 넉넉하고 풍족하게 공급됩니다. 그리고 그 때문에, 우리도 이렇게 은혜를 받으며 살고 있는 것입니다. 심지어 아무리 끝에 있더라도 말이죠.
그런데 그런 은혜를 받은 우리들이 해야 하는 일이 있습니다. 물을 공급받은 나무들이 잘 자라야 하는 의무가 있는 것처럼 우리들도 잘 자라야 합니다. 그것이 우리들에게 은혜를 베풀어 주신 하나님에게 보답하는 일입니다. 소망하는 것은, 주님의 은혜를 통해서 잘 자라시길 축복합니다. 그래서 선한 열매들을 가득 맺으시길 축복합니다.
